Obviously we love modern design as much as the next person. But what about the person who prefers classic design? After nearly 100 years we thought it was time to reintroduce this American classic. We know what you're thinking. How can you price a large 13.1" globe handcrafted out of gemstones by artisans half way around the world so low? It's complicated. Unfortunately the shop in Vegas probably thought there was no way on earth anyone would ever find the village where they had artisans crafting these globes. Well, we found them. Needless to say it helps when you're a company that is willing to travel out of the way for the most extraordinary items. And we were fortunate enough to have an opportunity to barter with village leaders, so our price is a bit lower. Sorry Vegas. But we're very, very excited to be able to offer this wonderful item. Unfortunately, because this incredible globe was not slapped together indiscriminately by machines, we only have a limited quantity. The attention to detail is obvious at every turn. In fact this is the globe of the world we'd expect to find in archeologist Dr. Indiana Jone's study. Each country on the map of the world is hand chiseled out of gemstones, lapis and abalone before being polished to a sparkling sheen. Then an acrylic high gloss protective finish is applied. The handsomely detailed meridian and base with compass is die cast out of thick brushed stainless steel. The overall effect is a stately work of art befitting a world diplomat or captain of industry.
